    Connect VibeSell to ChatGPT

Ask ChatGPT about your meetings, accounts and pipeline in plain language. One URL, read-only unless you allow changes.

What does the VibeSell plugin do in ChatGPT?

The plugin lets ChatGPT look things up in your VibeSell account while it answers you. It can search your meetings, pull a transcript, look up a contact or an account, read your CRM activity and open the briefs and summaries VibeSell has already written. On a read-only connection that's all it can do, it can't create, edit or delete anything.

If you allow changes when you connect, ChatGPT can also do things in VibeSell for you, like renaming or moving a meeting, updating a contact, drafting a follow-up email, approving the CRM updates from a call or changing a setting. It does this as you, with the same permissions you have in the app.

ChatGPT calls these integrations plugins. Under the hood VibeSell is an MCP server, which is the open standard Anthropic published for connecting AI assistants to other systems (Anthropic, 2024). It's the same server our Claude connector uses, so you get the same data and the same permissions in both.

What you need before you start

You need a VibeSell account and a paid ChatGPT plan, because adding a custom MCP server isn't available on the free tier. Check which ChatGPT account you are signed into before you start. The only thing you have to type is this URL:

    https://api.vibesell.ai/connect

If your company uses a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace, have a look at the section near the end first, since your admin may need to switch something on before you can add it.

How do you connect VibeSell to ChatGPT?

You add VibeSell as a custom MCP server from the Plugins page, paste the URL and then approve a screen that VibeSell shows you. It takes about two minutes.

    1

    Open Plugins

Click Plugins in the left sidebar of ChatGPT.

Plugins is in the sidebar, under Library.
    2

Choose Add, then Add custom MCP server

The Add button is in the top right of the Plugins page and has three options. You want the last one.

Pick Add custom MCP server, not Create plugin.
    3

Name it, paste the URL and create it

Call it VibeSell. The icon and description are optional; a small icon tends to get cropped. Keep Server URL selected, paste the URL and leave Authentication on OAuth. You don't need to touch Advanced OAuth settings, ChatGPT reads VibeSell's settings and registers itself. Then tick I understand and want to continue and click Create as a plugin.

Add custom MCP server dialog in ChatGPT with the VibeSell connect URL in the Connection field and the Create as a plugin button highlighted
Paste https://api.vibesell.ai/connect into the Connection field, tick the box and click Create as a plugin.
    4

    Click Connect VibeSell

After a few seconds ChatGPT asks you to connect the plugin you just created.

    5

    Approve access in VibeSell

This opens VibeSell, and if you're not signed in it asks you to sign in first. Then VibeSell shows you what ChatGPT is asking for.

Decide on Allow changes, then click the button under it.

Reading your meetings, transcripts, contacts, accounts, deals and documents is always part of the connection. Allow changes is a separate switch, and because ChatGPT asks for both it starts switched on, which is different from Claude. If you leave it on, the button says Allow reading and changes and ChatGPT can make the changes you could make in VibeSell, although it's asked to check with you before it deletes anything, sends an email or writes to your CRM. If you switch it off, the button changes to Allow reading and ChatGPT can only read.

We suggest connecting read-only for the first week or so, until you have seen how your team uses it.

After you approve, ChatGPT takes you back to the VibeSell plugin page and shows a small confirmation at the top.

Deciding when ChatGPT can use your data

ChatGPT has one permission setting per plugin that decides when it stops and asks you before using it. You'll find it under Settings, then Plugins, then VibeSell, then Permission. There are four options and it starts on Allow low-risk tools.

Allow read-only tools lets ChatGPT read without asking and asks before any change.

We suggest Allow read-only tools. That way ChatGPT can look things up in VibeSell without asking you every time, but still stops and asks before it changes anything. If you allowed changes, avoid Allow all tools, since then ChatGPT can make changes in VibeSell without showing you first.

How do you use VibeSell in a ChatGPT conversation?

Start a new chat, click the plus button in the message box and pick VibeSell from the list. A small VibeSell tag shows up in the box and ChatGPT uses VibeSell for whatever you ask next.

VibeSell shows up in the plus menu once it's connected.

For example, ask it to summarize your sales calls from the last two weeks and tell you what needs follow-up. ChatGPT tells you what it's doing while it works. It first loads the sales skills VibeSell gives it, then searches your meetings, reads through the action items and checks the CRM activity to tell which follow-ups are already done and which are still open.

A review like this takes a minute or two. The answer lists the accounts that need attention, each with the next step and a link that opens that meeting in VibeSell, so you can check where each point came from. The details below are blurred because they are real customers.

What you can ask once it's connected

ChatGPT reads the real meetings and records, so the answers come from what was actually said on your calls rather than a guess. Here are the kinds of questions it answers, grouped by where the answer comes from.

From the calls themselves, the transcripts and what VibeSell picked up during them:

    1. What did the buyer at this account say about pricing, in their own words?
    2. Find every call where a competitor came up and tell me how we handled it.
    3. Pull the transcript of Thursday's call and show me where the conversation changed.

From what VibeSell has already written, the briefs it prepares before a meeting and the summaries after:

    1. Pull the brief for tomorrow's call and tell me what's changed since we last spoke.
    2. Which action items from last month never got picked up?

From your pipeline, including CRM activity read live from HubSpot or Salesforce:

    1. Which of my open deals have no next meeting booked?
    2. Tell me everything we know about this contact before I call them.

From your own material, like your methodology, pricing sheets, ICP notes and proposals:

    1. Score this call against our qualification framework.
    2. Does this account fit our ICP, and what from the calls backs that up?

And if you allowed changes, the same chat can end with the change itself, for example "rename tomorrow's call to Acme pricing review and move it to 3pm" or "draft the follow-up to the Acme call and show it to me before you send it".

What ChatGPT can and can't do with your VibeSell data

On a read-only connection ChatGPT can't change a record, delete a meeting or write to your CRM, it isn't even given the tools that would let it. With Allow changes on it can make the same changes you can make in VibeSell, but deleting something, sending an email, writing to your CRM or turning on a public share link each need a separate confirmation, and ChatGPT is asked to check with you before giving it.

Everything is scoped to your own account. ChatGPT sees your meetings and your accounts, the same ones you see when you log into VibeSell, and if a colleague connects their own ChatGPT they get their data, not yours.

How do you disconnect or change permissions later?

Go to Settings, then Plugins, click VibeSell and open the menu next to your VibeSell account under Connected accounts. Disconnect stops access straight away. Reconnect sends you back through the VibeSell screen, which is where you turn Allow changes on or off. The switch starts on again each time, because ChatGPT asks for changes again, so turn it off if you want to stay read-only.

Reconnect to change what ChatGPT can do, Disconnect to stop it.

If you want to remove VibeSell from ChatGPT completely, there's an Uninstall button at the top of the same page.

If your team is on ChatGPT Business or Enterprise

The steps above are for personal plans. In Business and Enterprise workspaces admins decide which apps and custom MCP servers people can use (OpenAI Help Center), so if you don't see Add custom MCP server in the Add menu, ask your workspace admin to allow it.

Each person still connects on their own and approves the VibeSell screen with their own VibeSell login, which is what keeps everyone's data separate.
